El Salvador

A place I would like to visit is El Salvador.  El Salvador is a country located in Central America.  Central America is a strip of land between North America and South America that has lots of countries and small islands.  El Salvador is technically considered apart of North America.  El Salvador is a Spanish speaking country.  The people there are called Mestizo’s.  They are mixed with White and Mexican or White and Indian.  I chose this place because my mom was working on a project about El Salvador and it seemed interesting.  The weather is nice, it’s usually warm and there are lots of beaches.  I can swim.  The people there speak Spanish.  They have volcanoes too.  I want to visit there because it is a place that’s out of the country.

Hollywood

The place I chose is Hollywood.  I chose Hollywood because I hope to meet someone famous there.  One reason that I want to go there is because I would like to visit Universal Studios.  It is a theme park with rides, games, and restaurants. Some of the popular games are Simpsons and Disney games. A second reason I wold like t visit Hollywood is because Capital Records is located there. I love music and especially rap music and I hope to meet a famous rapper. Hollywood became so popular during World War II.  At first, the name was Hollywood Land.  Although there are many things to do and places to visit I totally recommend Ripley’s Believe It or NotMuseum for Explorers.

Hawaii

The place I chose is Hawaii.  The reason I want to go there is because it is a nice, hot beautiful place.  Hawaii is an island that is considered to be the fiftieth state in the United States of America.  Another reason I want to go there is because I want to explore the volcanoes.  Some people may be scared to go to Hawaii because a volcano may erupt.  But Hawaii is an island and it’s surrounded by water so I think you can just swim.  You can also buy a boat just in case.  Hawaii’s nickname is called ‘The Big Island’.  I read that Hawaii only has minimal amounts of schools.  They say it’s only 5 charter schools.  That’s another reason I want to go there.

Miami

The surface bedrock under the Miami area is called Miami oolite or Miami limestone. This bedrock is covered by a thin layer of soil, and is no more than 50 feet . Miami limestone formed as the result of the drastic changes in sea level associated with recent glaciations or ice ages. Beginning some 130,000 years ago the Sangamonian Stage raised sea levels to approximately 25 feet above the current level. All of southern Florida was covered by a shallow sea. Several parallel lines of reef formed along the edge of the submerged Florida plateau, stretching from the present Miami area to what is now the Dry Tortugas. The area behind this reef line was in effect a large lagoon, and the Miami limestone formed throughout the area from the deposition of oolites and the shells of bryozoans. Starting about 100,000 years ago the Wisconsin glaciation began lowering sea levels, exposing the floor of the lagoon. By 15,000 years ago, the sea level had dropped to 300 to 350 feet 110 m below the contemporary level. The sea level rose quickly after that, stabilizing at the current level about 4000 years ago, leaving the mainland of South Florida just above sea level.

Kalahari Resort

The Kalahari Resort is named after the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa, hence the African theme at all the resorts. The lobbies have artificial fountains, trees, and animals. Special African-themed events, such as getting photographed with baby tigers, are also held. Most of the water slides in the water parks are named after African animals, such as the Rippling Rhino and the Wild Wildebeest. Other services at the Kalahari include restaurants, gift shops, and sweet shops. Both existing Kalahari Resorts include a 100,000 feet 9,300 convention center where groups can hold meetings, parties, and banquets. The Kalahari Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, and the Nia Center in Sandusky have both won awards for their AquaRecycle system, a laundry water recycling and filtration system that will allow Kalahari Resorts to reuse 70 percent of its laundry water.

Atlanta

The city has long been known as a center of black wealth, political power and culture; a cradle of the Civil Rights Movement and home to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. However, the city's white population is growing rapidly, while Metro Atlanta has quickly become ethnically diverse with large Hispanic and Asian populations. The arts and entertainment are well represented in Atlanta, and the city is an important base for hip hop, gospel, and neon soul music in addition, it has become a major center of film and TV production. Atlanta stands out among major U.S cities for its dense tree coverage. In 1996, Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics, an event that spurred a wave of gentrification that has intensified into the 21st century, revitalizing the city's center ad in-town neighborhoods.

Mall of amercia

The Mall of America has a gross area of 4,200,000  ft 390,000  or 96.4 acres, enough to fit seven Yankee Stadiums inside, with 2,500,000 ft available as retail space. The mall is nearly symmetric, with a roughly rectangular floor plan. Over 520 stores are arranged along three levels of pedestrian walkways on the sides of the rectangle, with a fourth level on the east side. Four anchor department stores are located at the corners. The mall is organized into four different zones, each with its own decorative style.

Despite Minnesota's cold winters, only the mall's entrances and some below ground areas are heated. Heat is allowed in through skylight above Nickelodeon Universe. The majority of the heat is produced by lighting fixtures, other electric devices, and people in the mall. In fact, even during the winter, air conditioning systems are still in use during peak hours to ensure a comfortable shopping environment.Although the common areas are unheated, the individual stores do have heating systems.

Two nearly identical seven story parking ramps on the east and west sides of the mall provide 12,287 parking spaces. Overflow parking north of the building provides an additional 1,200-1,500 spaces in addition to parking provided by IKEK.

Windy city

The city of Chicago has been known by many nicknames, but it is most widely recognized as the "Windy City". There are three main possibilities to explain the city's nickname: the weather, as Chicago is near Lake Michigan; the World's Fair; and the rivalry with Cincinnati.

The earliest known reference to Chicago as the "Windy City" is from an 1858 Chicago Tribune articalThe first known repeated effort to label Chicago with this nickname is from 1876 and involves Chicago's rivalry with Cincinnati. The term "Windy City" was popularized and came into common usage by The Sun editor, Charles Dana, in the bidding for the 1893 Columbian Exposition. The popularity of the nickname has endured, long after the Cincinnati rivalry and the Columbian Exposition ended.
