Kolkata

 

Kolkata used to be known as Calcutta. It is a huge city of over 14 million people and has been nicknamed "The City of Joy." It is known as the New York of India. The marketplace, Chowringee, is huge, and almost everything you can think of is sold there.

 

 

Kolkata is home to the Howrah Bridge, which goes across the Hooley River. People say it is the busiest bridge in the world.

 

 

Another fun thing to check out is the festival called Durga Puja, which takes place in October. Many streets are shut down during this time and huge displays are created. The city pretty much turns into a carnival.
